Balfour Beatty Investments Ltd who is part of Balfour Beatty Plc, is bringing forward revised proposals for new student homes on the site of the former Scottish Law Commission building, 140 Causewayside.
As before the proposals are based on providing high quality student homes and an improved frontage on the site. The proposals will create a mix of studio and cluster apartments which will help both to increase the vibrancy of the local area and to provide much needed student accommodation.
This vacant brownfield site is highly accessible with excellent public transport connections and is in easy reach of key university facilities.
The proposals create an opportunity to improve the appearance of Causewayside by introducing a modern and attractive building that more closely follows the building line of the adjacent on street properties.
Consultation
A new public consultation event to see and comment on the initial proposals will be held on Thursday 19th June 2025 from 3.30pm to 7pm at Newington Trinity Church, 18 West Mayfield, Edinburgh, EH9 1TQ.
A second consultation event will be held on Thursday 17th July 2025 from 3.30pm to 7pm at the same venue, and this event will provide an opportunity to consider and comment on the revised proposals and any changes made to reflect the views expressed in the initial consultation.
Members of the professional team will be available at both events to answer your questions and explain the details of the proposals. Exhibition boards outlining the development will be available to view, and there will be the opportunity to provide written feedback.
